By creating an account at signup, using the website or member portal, attending club activities, or otherwise dealing with SSHA, you agree to these Terms and Conditions, the SSHA Club Constitution (including its Code of Conduct and appendices), our Privacy Policy, and the other approved club policies published at ssha.org.au/policies.
Acceptance is collected at signup only. Renewal of membership does not require a fresh acceptance checkbox; continued membership remains subject to the Constitution and the current approved policies.
If you do not agree, you must not create an account or use SSHA services or facilities.
Where these Terms and the Constitution address the same subject, the Constitution prevails.
SSHA is an incorporated association under the Associations Incorporation Act 2009 (NSW). Consistent with the Constitution, the objects of the Association are to promote, educate, administer, and further the sport of target (rifle, clay) shooting; grant recognition of other shooting disciplines as detailed in the Standard Shooting Rules for Australian Shooting Clubs; provide the best possible amenities and resources to members to enjoy their sport; and ensure ethical hunting and feral pest control by members is conducted humanely and only in areas approved by authorised consent.
SSHA is a community club for target shooting (including shotgun/clay, pistol, and related rifle activity), ethical hunting pathways, and collecting. Club activities are typically held at affiliated ranges, including:
Range access, parking, and venue rules are set by the host venue and may change by event.
3.1 Minimum age for membership is 12 years. Junior members require appropriate parent/guardian authority. A parent or guardian must be present whenever a person under 18 attends a club activity.
3.2 You must provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information (including licence and contact details) and promptly update changes in the portal or by notifying the club.
3.3 You are responsible for keeping login credentials secure. Account access may be suspended, revoked, or anonymised where reasonably necessary for safety, compliance, non-payment, misconduct, or legal reasons.
3.4 Creating an account does not guarantee membership approval, range access, or any firearms licence outcome. Licensing decisions rest with NSW Police / the Firearms Registry.
Under the Constitution, membership types are:
| Type | Key constitutional features |
|---|---|
| Adult | Annual fee (unless waived); may participate in organised target shooting and/or hunting events approved or managed by the Association; not entitled to be elected to a nominated Committee position |
| Junior | Annual fee (unless waived); may participate in organised target shooting and/or hunting events approved or managed by the Association |
| Governance | Annual fee (unless waived); entitled to be elected to a nominated Committee position; application must be reviewed and affirmed by the Secretary within 30 days (see 4C) |
| Life | Valid for the lifetime of the member or until the member does not hold a NSW firearms licence (for whatever reason); no yearly membership fee, but still required to pay fees not related to memberships; not entitled to be elected to a nominated Committee position |
All membership types (other than Life, as above) are valid for one year only.
The Constitution also recognises:
4.1 In addition to constitutional types, club systems may offer pathway categories including Longarms, Pistol, Collecting, and optional Insurance, and may record genuine reasons for club purposes (e.g. Hunting Club, Target Longarms, Target Pistol, Collecting, R-Game).
4.2 Fees, joining fees, benefits, and terms published on the site are indicative and may change. The fee payable is the amount shown at checkout (or advised by authorised staff for staff-assisted sales), or as determined by the Committee under the Constitution.
4.3 Membership periods are generally annual (except Life membership as above). Juniors may have age-based terms until turning 18. Grace periods and renewal states may apply as configured in club systems, subject to constitutional cessation rules (including non-payment — see 4E).
4.4 Auto-renewal may be enabled by default for eligible memberships. You are responsible for maintaining a valid payment method and for cancelling or updating renewal preferences before renewal if you do not wish to continue.
4.5 Financial membership may be required to support genuine-reason / club obligations. Non-renewal or lapse may affect compliance status and may be reported where the club is obliged or authorised to do so.
4.6 A right, privilege, or obligation of membership is not capable of being transferred or transmitted to another person and terminates on cessation of membership (Constitution).
An application for Governance Membership must be reviewed and affirmed by the Secretary within thirty (30) days of submission. If affirmed, it continues without interruption. If not affirmed within thirty (30) days, the application is deemed not approved and the applicant is entitled to a full refund of all fees paid in relation to that application.
A person ceases to be a member if the person:
Resignation: a member may resign by giving the Secretary written notice of at least 1 month; membership ceases on expiration of that notice. The Secretary must record the cessation date in the register of members.
5.1 Payments are processed through Stripe and/or authorised staff sales processes (including MOTO / in-person where offered). Entrance fees, annual subscriptions, donations, and other Committee-determined sources (including fundraising) form Association funds under the Constitution.
5.2 Unless required by law or expressly stated otherwise by SSHA in writing:
5.3 “Waivers” in club administration refer to fee adjustments authorised by the club, not liability waivers, unless a separate liability waiver document is provided and signed. Under the Constitution, fees absorbed/waived by the Association are determined by the Executive Committee; Life Members are granted fee-waiver entitlement as stated in the Constitution.
5.4 Chargebacks or payment disputes initiated without first contacting the club may result in suspension of membership services pending resolution.
5.5 Member liability (Constitution): A member’s liability to contribute to the debts and liabilities of the Association, or the costs of winding up, is limited to the amount (if any) unpaid by the member in respect of membership fees under the Constitution.
6.1 SSHA provides online tools for membership management, attendance, events, scoring, hunting hub content, communications, and related services. Features may change, be interrupted, or be withdrawn for maintenance or operational reasons.
6.2 You must not misuse the systems (including attempting unauthorised access, scraping, interfering with other users, uploading unlawful or harmful content, or circumventing security).
6.3 Digital membership cards (including Apple Wallet / Google Wallet passes) are convenience credentials only. Club officers and range staff may require additional verification. Pass status may lag behind portal records.
6.4 Content on the public site (including licence guides, FAQ, and attendance guidance) is general club information only and is not legal advice. NSW Police and the Firearms Registry decide licence conditions and outcomes.
7.1 Event listings, RSVPs, check-in, grading, and scoring are administered through club systems. Participation may be limited by membership category, eligibility, capacity, safety, or officer discretion.
7.2 You must follow range rules, officer directions, competition rules (including applicable Standard Shooting Rules for Australian Shooting Clubs where relevant), and any event-specific conditions.
7.3 SSHA may cancel, reschedule, or modify activities for weather, safety, venue, staffing, or operational reasons. Where practicable, notice will be given via the portal, email, or site updates.
8.1 Members are responsible for meeting applicable NSW participation requirements for their licence / genuine reason. Club guidance (including Part 10 Firearms Regulation 2017 references on club materials) is assistance only.
8.2 Attendance may be recorded by member upload, club-day entry, or authorised staff. False, misleading, or fabricated attendance evidence is serious misconduct and may result in disciplinary action and regulatory notification where appropriate.
9.1 Try Shooting participants must complete the P650 Declaration Application Form (or other required forms) on the day as directed. Failure to do so will terminate the session immediately, with no refund.
9.2 Guests and visitors must comply with venue rules, supervision requirements, and directions of club officers / range staff.
10.1 Public “firearms for sale” listings are enquiry channels only. Online payment for firearms through the public site is not offered.
10.2 Dealer / acquisition processes are governed by separate agreements and acknowledgements, including that ownership may transfer to the Club, access may be lost, fees may apply (and may exceed firearm value), forfeiture may occur in stated circumstances, and deposits may be non-refundable. Those documents prevail for that process.
Where members hunt or participate in feral pest control through or associated with club pathways, they must do so humanely, ethically, lawfully, and only in areas approved by the proper authorities, and must hold all required licences and permissions. Members must also comply with Appendix 4 (Hunting Rules) of the Constitution, including landholder permission, humane kill obligations, blaze orange, and minor-hunter supervision rules (see Environmental & WHS and Member Conduct policies).
You must comply with the constitutional Code of Conduct (Part 2 and Appendix 3), SSHA Member Conduct & Protection Policies, Environmental & WHS Policies, Firearms Governance & Compliance Policies, and all lawful directions of authorised officers and elected Office Bearers/Committee. Breach may result in removal from an activity, suspension, expulsion, account action, and/or reporting to authorities.
Website content, branding, templates, and club materials are owned by or licensed to SSHA. You may not copy or reuse them for commercial purposes without written permission, except for personal use of your own membership records.
14.1 Shooting, hunting, and related activities involve inherent risks. You participate voluntarily and are responsible for your own safe conduct and equipment (except where the club expressly provides and controls equipment).
14.2 To the maximum extent permitted by law, SSHA and its officers, volunteers, and agents are not liable for loss or damage arising from use of the website/portal, membership administration, or participation in activities, except where liability cannot be excluded (including under the Australian Consumer Law).
14.3 Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to resupply of services or payment of the cost of resupply, where permitted.
14.4 Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded by law.
You agree to indemnify SSHA against reasonably foreseeable loss arising from your breach of these terms, unlawful conduct, or misuse of club systems or facilities, to the extent permitted by law and except to the extent caused by SSHA’s negligence or wrongdoing.
SSHA may suspend or terminate membership or account access for non-payment, serious misconduct, safety risk, regulatory non-compliance, provision of false information, or other serious breach, in accordance with the Constitution (including clauses on cessation, disciplining of members, and appeals). You may resign by giving the Secretary at least 1 month’s written notice, or cancel renewal in accordance with club processes; fees already paid are subject to section 5.
Disciplinary suspension or expulsion under the Constitution does not take effect until the appeal period expires or, if an appeal is lodged, until the Association confirms the resolution at a Special General Meeting (see Member Conduct & Protection Policies).
Immediate removal from an activity for safety reasons may still occur without waiting for that process.
Without limiting the Constitution:
SSHA may update these terms. When approved for publication, the current version will be made available. Continued use after notice of material changes constitutes acceptance where permitted by law. Changes to the Association’s name, objects, or Constitution are made in accordance with the Act and the Constitution (application by the Public Officer).
18.1 If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder continues in force.
18.2 These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales.
18.3 Club policies (firearms, conduct, governance, WHS) form part of the membership framework once approved.
18.4 The Association is non-profit: funds and assets must be applied solely in pursuance of the objects of the Association and must not provide pecuniary gain for members (Constitution).
18.5 Contact for terms questions: info@ssha.org.au or membership@ssha.org.au.
